BRUSHED TYPE DC MOTORS are popular for their low cost, simplicity, and ruggedness.  A brushed dc motor can run with a dc power source without a speed controller.  Wiring is very simple as it has just two wires to connect to a dc power source.  Reversing the rotation of the motor is as simple as swapping the the two wire connections.  Makermotor offers several selections of brushed dc motors.
